About American Education Services (AES)
Since 1964, American Education Services (AES), an unincorporated division of Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), has devoted its energy, resources, and imagination to creating access to affordable higher education for students and their families. AES continues to take a leadership role in developing innovative ways to ease the financial burdens of students and borrowers, while streamlining delivery systems for schools and lenders.
Today, AES is one of the largest, full-service financial aid organizations in the nation. It manages more than $67.2 billion in total assets and serves nearly four million students nationally through its state grant, guaranty, servicing, and financial aid processing systems. One example of AES' commitment to students is its longstanding Zero Guaranty Fee Policy, which has already saved student loan borrowers more than $337 million in up-front costs through the upcoming school year.
Already recognized as a national leader, AES has achieved one of the lowest default rates in the country. AES' goal is to reach out to students, increase their financial literacy, help them avoid default, and offer options for loan repayment while providing them with a framework for a lifetime of financial success.
AES has also established a reputation as a pioneer of new technology as a result of its continuous efforts to increase efficiency and accuracy. The Agency saves schools more than $24 million in administrative costs through its advanced financial aid delivery products and services. With the same innovative spirit, AES will continue to build and grow, remaining a trusted partner and visionary force in the financial aid industry.
